Ci tornerei senza esitazione!
In un forum straniero Tripadvisor ( come suggerito da NeverLetGo ) , tuttavia ci sono commenti in inglese, che se possono esservi utili, vi riporto alcuni recentiMarch, 2007Just to clarify a few things so you are not misled as we were,
We thought we booked the mirabel resort 5 starr luxury foy our pearl anniversary, the mirabel complex consists of 3 hotels, the beach{also known as jazz] the park and the club,
all the photos you are shown are of the beach, so dont be suprised if you end up at the club, you can use facilities which you can at most other hotels ,
As for the club it was clean and friendly, we met some lovely people who made our holiday, my wife suffered the common tummy bug but with her it lasted 8 days, there was a meeting with the management as to why so many people were ill,
He stated it was only the british that were ill, but this affected about 50% of people, so what is wrong who knows,
There was only one bar for evenings, only seated 50 , so get there early, but there again dont bother as the entertainment left alot to be desired, it was in the flight path as most hotels were,
there was a swamp across the road in front of the hotel, wich harboured mosquitoes, not very nice , it smelt aswell,
the snorkeling was good, taxis rip you off, book private cars to go anywhere, cleaner and cheaper.
The hotel food was good, plenty of choice, snack bar ok.
pools ok and clean,
So take care the park and the club are not the beach,
Its alot like buying a new car all the adverts show top of the range but state the basic price, just like the mirabel,
Read the reveiws and make your own choice.
March, 2007We have just returned from a 10 day stay at the Jaz Mirabel. The hotel is magnificent and the service was great. We took our 2 year old daughter, and I am currently pregnant, so was obviously worried about all the bad stories you hear re food poisoning etc, but we were all fine. Hotel/Restaurant was extremeley clean. Rooms were cleaneddaily, and they left lovely towel sculptures on the beds. The pools(!) were lovely, but the unheated ones did take your breath away !
Overall I would say this is probably the best hotel we have ever stayed in on holiday and I am extremely fussy! Perhaps not the most convenient if all you want to do sightseeing, but if you want to mix a little luxury with the odd trip out then this is an absolute must
March, 2007Just got back from this Hotel, we stayed here between 25th march & 1st April with the wife in a twin room & 2 teenage boys in a twin room
First of all, although this was our first time to Sharm, this was our 6th time we have stayed in 5* all-inclusive hotels, mainly in the Caribbean & Florida
So we feel our previous experiences with 5* Hotels with reference to this hotel may be useful to you
GATWICK
We arrived at Gatwick 2hrs before departure & the queues for checking in were huge.
Unbeknown to us, you can now check in using the automated machines just to the left as you enter the main concourse at Gatwick, they look like free standing ATM machines, you enter your flight number & passport numbers, the machine confirms your departure time & destination & issues your boarding pass’s, all this takes about two minuets to do.
Take you luggage to to the front of the long queue & chuck`em on the weighing scales, walk through passport control & that’s it, very convenient.
Must have saved at least an hour giving the wife more time to spend my money on perfume in duty free!
Incidentally, our flight to Sharm took 4hrs 50 minutes; coming back took 5hrs 35minutes.
For you smokers, it’s cheaper to buy cigarettes on the plane, only £18 for 400 Benson & Hedges, or better still, £5 for 200 L&M in the hotel shops!
You probably all know about the visa requirements, if you don’t plan to leave the resort of Sharm, then you won’t need a visa, so if anybody says you need a visa, they are lying.
If you plan to Scuba dive at Ras Mohammed, visit Cairo or Luxor then you will need a visa because it’s outside the resort, visa not required if you plan to dive or snorkel of Tiran Island.
THE HOTEL
No welcome drink when we arrived, that’s because it only took 2 minutes to check in.
You go to your allocated Room; your luggage follows about 15minutes later via golf buggy.
In our view, the Hotel is not quit 5* standard, no named brands of alcohol drinks or optics in the room, some drinks in the fridge, but you are charged for these! Even the water! No iron or ironing board in room & no fancy flowers & you are charged for room service, all the above standard for a 5* Hotel
Bar waiting service is very poor, as far as we could tell, this was due to lack of staff
But there is a lovely walk in shower about 2mtrsX1mtr, & a good hair dryer for the ladies
The safes are the digital type & they are free of charge, the safe in the boys room didn’t work, ours was ok, air conditioning worked on the boys room, ours didn’t work, wasn’t needed anyway.
TV has 5 English channels that consist of 2xmusic, BBC world news, 1xfilm channel, 1xamerican soap type of programs.
Why watch the telly on holiday you ask, simple, no evening entertainment
There are 2 buffet restaurants; we found the choice of food to be very good, although a little repetitive, al Zaytoun restaurant has a smoking area, not sure about the other restaurant
There’s an egg station for your omelettes or fried eggs, mushrooms, fried toms, but no bacon or pork sausages for obvious reasons.
Cereals, yogurts, fruits & fruit juices breads of every type, only one toasting machine which some people like to hog, some people would put there bread in this machine & stand right in front of it, lost count of the times I had to ask these ignorant people to step aside so I & others could use it, maybe they thought my bread would somehow miraculously overtake theirs & pop out first!
The hotel Staff are the friendliest we have ever met, even if they did get things wrong now & then, they just cannot do enough for you; our cleaner did some lovely Towel art, see photos
There are 3 beach bars, only 1 is open due to demand.
Forget about snorkelling from the beach, its only 2ft deep for about 400mtrs out that only consists of coral sand & sea grass, to shallow for snorkelling & there’s nothing to see anyway
The hotel does not have a jetty, but you can use the jetty next door for a small charge
If you walk towards the beach & turn left, there’s a bay were you can snorkel, it’s a 10-15 minute walk, I have no idea what its like, didn’t go, to busy with other activities
Although we took mosquito repellent, surprisingly we didn’t use any, they usually have a banquet on the wife, so I was very surprised we had no problems there.
Illness’s, again, no problems at all, the wife ate Salads all week, we took Imodium with us & didn’t use any

POOL BARS open at 09.00-18.00
NOTE, LONG TROUSERS REQUIRED FOR EVENING MEALS
ORIENTAL LOBBY BAR is open 24hrs but after midnight you are charged for drinks & this place gets very busy in the evenings, so order 2 drinks at a time from the waiter or go to the bar & have fun jockeying to the front of the bar with the Russians
even at 6ft3& 16st I found this quit a challange
Cannot say much about tours, but my 18 year old son twisted my arm to go on the Quad bikes, if you book it though Thomson it will cost you £35 each, or do as we did, walk down to the beach & turn left, theres a diving centre that also does tours.
We paid £20 each for 3hr sunset Quad bike tour, it was brilliant, halfway through the tour, sip traditional Bedouin tea for an hour at sunset, then continue kicking the dust up on your Quad bike.
They will even document your tour on to DVD for 20euros
Note, wear old clothes, sunglasses & traditional Bedouin head scarf , you get covered in dust, head scarf’s are £3 each in hotel shops, buy them when you get to the quad bike centre, only £1.20
a trip to Nama Bay was very enjoyable, the place is buzzing lots of restaurants & souvenir shops, expect to get hassled by shopkeepers as you walk about, a firm no did the trick,. The hotel shuttle bus at warp factor 9 takes 25 minutes to Nama bay for a small price
Bus departs the hotel.............................bus departs Nama bay
10.00.........................................................13.00
19.00.........................................................20.00
21.00.........................................................22.00
23.00.........................................................24.00
You can also use the pool & water slides at the Mirabel Park, but no free drinks at the pool bars,
As for the evening entertainment, this is very low key with a female Russian singer that’s truly awful, but she does her best, bless her
SCUBA DIVING
Diving company attached to the hotel is
www.mrdiver.comWhen you dive in Sharm, you are out all day, for boat dives you are picked up at 07.30 returns about 04.00, I did a shore dive at shark’s bay, left hotel at 14.00 didn’t return until 18.30
I did 6 dives, 4 of them boat dives at Tiran island, Jackson reef is a must dive, I came across the biggest Moray eel I’ve ever seen, it was fatter then my thigh, lots of angel & butterfly fish, trigger fish, parrot, blue spotted rays, Lion fish, but no sharks or barracudas.
Again, you can have your dive documented onto DVD, it’s done very professionally for 35euros with
[email protected] I also did 2 house reef dives at Sharks bay.
If you’re a smoker like me & you use your air quickly, ask for a 15ltr tank instead of a 12ltr, they also do Nitrox
A welsh guy did his open water course for only £150 this is very cheap.
Cost me £200 14 years ago.
You can also book your dives on there website & save some money, at the end of your dive package, they will wash your equipment in fresh water & deliver it to your hotel the following day, brilliant
Sea temp` is only 22c, it’s to cold for shortly wetsuit, so full wetsuit required
Air temp` 28c
FLIGHT HOME
We arrived at Sharm airport for our flight home & I can only describe it as absolutely chaos in there, we’ve all seen the show, it’s a knockout, its just like that, Russians trying to barge you out of the way, its very stuffy, no seats available to sit on, air thick with cigarette smoke, & I’m a smoker! Rubbish bins overflowing, no toilet paper (take your own) It seemed every body was going home all at the same time.
Our flight was delayed for an hour because of all this
The good news, a new terminal is almost finished to handle the 5million people that past through last year
SUMMERY
We would visit Sharm again, but not this Hotel for the following reasons
1 to far from Nama Bay
2 cannot snorkel from the beach
3 no evening entertainment
4 poor bar service for 5*
April, 2007The building itself is fabulous, as is the setting. Our room was great, one of very few with a full sea view. If you want peace and quite ask for one of these rooms as they are as far away as you can get from the main part of the hotel and there seem to be far fewer families staying in these rooms and thus less noise!
The beach is lovely with plenty of beds and parasols and Tommy's beach bar gives great service. The sea outside the hotel is a bit disappointing with very little sea-life. You need to walk to the nearby hotel in the course of construction to see anything worthwhile but there are no facilities there.
We like walking and there is really nowhere to walk from this Hotel. You can walk along the concrete pathway to the other hotels but you will be competing with motor bikes, scooters etc which seem to have priority!
The dining experience lets the hotel down badly. If you are not in the dining room by 7.45 am may have to wait for a table to be cleared and made-up before you can eat. The breakfast itself is good, with plenty of choice. Be prepared to wait for tea and coffee.
The evening meal is not a good experience. If you don't get to the dining room for 6.45 you can expect to have to wait for a free table. Its pot luck if you get the drink you order or even a drink at all! The food itself is ok but the crockery is never clean. Its all a bit of a free- for- all and it is not uncommon to see children sticking their fingers in to sample the food and picking stuff up and putting it down (not always where they got it from either!) Is it any wonder most people had some form of tummy upset ? It would be good to see a family dining room and one for adults only.
The bars are excellent with a wide range of drinks but you must be prepared to wait for them. Service is very slow.
This is not the place to go if you want a peaceful romantic break. There are far too many families for that. Most children were well behaved but the areas around the pools did resemble a holiday camp on a bad day at times!!
Quite a bit of work needs to be done especially with regard to the dining experience before this can truly be considered a 5 star hotel.
April, 2007Ok, so let's begin with a positive. The hotel is excellent, beautiful decor, gardens and we had a family room with a partial sea view.... well, if you hung by your toenails off the balcony, you could see the sea. This is where the praise stops. The service was terrible. You could wait 20 minutes for a drink at any time in the dining room or the main lounge area. The food was very 3 star and the dining areas were badly managed. Example: Hot plates for the cold desserts, cold plates for the hot food which was usually luke warm. Butter was either melted or frozen solid.
Now to the beach...... Stop right there. The sandy beach is fine, but you can not swim in the sea as you have to walk out at least 1/2 a mile to get any depth over 7inches. There is no sea life at all, apart from the urchins and the coral that cuts your legs to bits. The nearest fish are a good 25 minutes walk past a new hotel that is being built and when you get there , no seats, no drinks , no towels. The other thing to bare in mind is that this hotel is the farthest out of Sharm and you will spend a fortune on cabs to get any where. We spent £60.00 in a week just to go to old Sharm, Nama and Fantasia. Only give the taxi driver the following:
Nama : £3
Old Sharm or Fantasia: £5.00
So think long and hard before booking this Hotel, I have been to Egypt 5 times, I will never go to this hotel again
